Business Project positions

Two short cases of interface between Business and Design.

Dear reader,

This part of my portfolio is something that usually you will not find in a Designer portfolio. Do you remember the keywords on the home of my website? If no, that’s not a problem, they are Service Design – UX – Business Projects, and regarding this last one, Business Project, this post is about.

I decided to include this session on my portfolio to justify and show examples and information that sometimes are not on the focus or “behind the scenes” in my other works. Here, you will find two positions I had in the Business side and the interface and connections I did with multidisciplinary, design, and product teams during this time.

Learning objects project coordinator

Company: Universidade Federal do ABC/FUNDEP – 2015

The projects I managed (43) were based on waterfall methodology, but more than control time and scope (no budget management was needed in this case) the technical quality aspect was important. Around this, not only the technology knowledge but also the Design aspects were considered in my role. For this reason, I was the person who did the interface between the coordinators, vendors, and what they called as “Multidisciplinary Team” (composed by digital artists, web designer, animation designer, art director, among other professionals).

I was responsible for understanding the problems on the online courses the university used to offer, doing a content analysis, design, interviews, usability tests and discussing the best alternatives with the students and teachers.

Also, negotiation with vendors to develop the solutions respecting deadlines and scopes was a part of my work.

The greatest challenge of this position was, in addition to the fact that there were many projects happening in parallel, to ensure that the final deliveries would be important for the students’ learning, that they favored a more pleasant learning path and presented the correct information. In other words, combining management work with design work in which I also had technical activities.

Reports to coordinators and meetings with vendor’s project management to discuss management aspects were common.

Sr. Project Analyst/Project Coordinator

Company: Planetun/Insurtech – 2018

My biggest challenge at this start-up was to improve the projects area, which over time added business, training, data, and business analysts. At the same time as managing the projects, involving all people above, deadlines, and internal organization, I also noticed the need for a greater focus on products, so I recruited the company’s first digital product designer.

The first digital product designer worked closely to me in the reformulation of the application images, which did not have standards, proofreading of texts and messages and the user journey, in addition to general graphic materials. In this same company, I interacted with the development and operations team, once it was a part of the entire journey.

The highlight of my work was working on a project that involved artificial intelligence to assist in car inspections, in which the app screens were all revisited by me and the product designer, considering the customers’ journey.

Meetings with the CEO and COO as well were part of my routine.
